Will Apple stop selling iPads?

Use Handoff to continue your work on another device

With Handoff, you can start work on one device, then switch to another device nearby and pick up where you left off.

Set up handoff

You can use Handoff with any Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and any Apple Watch, as long as the device meets the system requirements for integration. Handoff works when your devices are close to each other and have the following requirements:

  • All devices are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
To see the Apple ID used by Apple Watch, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and choose General> Apple ID.
  • Bluetooth is activated on every device.
  • WLAN is activated on every device.
  • Handoff is enabled on every device.

How to enable Handoff on your devices:

  • Mac: Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, then click General. Select "Allow handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices".
  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings> General> AirPlay & Handoff, then turn on Handoff.
  • Apple Watch: In the Apple Watch app on the iPhone, tap General, then tap Enable Handoff. (The Apple Watch supports handoff from the Apple Watch to an iPhone or Mac.)

Use handoff

  1. Open an app that is compatible with Handoff.
Apps compatible with Handoff: Mail, Maps, Safari, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and numerous third-party apps.
  2. Use the app to start a task, such as writing an email or writing a document.
  3. Continue on the other device:
    • When you switch to your Mac, click the app's Handoff icon in the Dock:
    • If you're switching to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the app switcher just like you would when switching between apps. Then tap the app banner at the bottom of the screen.
