Here's how to create a playlist in the Apple Music app

Learn how to create playlists using music from the Apple Music catalog or your own collection.

Create a playlist on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Android device

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. At the bottom of your screen, tap on "Library".
  3. Tap on "Playlists".
  4. Tap "New Playlist".
  5. Name your playlist, then tap Add Music.
  6. Find the music you want to add, tap it, then tap Done. Tap "Done" on your Android device .
  7. Tap "Done" or "Done".

You can also touch and hold a track, album, or playlist. Then tap "Add to Playlist" to add the music to an existing list, or tap "New Playlist".


Create a playlist on your iPad

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and tap New Playlist.
  3. Name your playlist, then tap Add Music.
  4. Find the music you want to add, tap it, then tap Done.
  5. Tap on "Done".

You can also touch and hold a track, album, or playlist until it lifts up. Then drag the music to an existing playlist or a new playlist in the sidebar.


Create a playlist on your Mac or PC

  1. Open the Apple Music app or iTunes.
  2. In the menu bar, choose File> New> Playlist.
  3. Give your playlist a name.
  4. Drag and drop music into your playlist in the sidebar.

  • If you have an Apple Music profile, you can publish a playlist so anyone can find it when they search Apple Music. When you create a new playlist, activate "Show in 'My profile' and search".

  • By default, songs you add to a playlist from Apple Music aren't automatically added to your library. If you want all of the songs to be added to your library, you can change your settings.
