Did Jesus ever say that I forgive?

Why should I believe that Jesus claimed to be God?

Among the religious leaders who have gained a large following throughout history, Jesus Christ is unique for the fact that he alone claimed to be God in human form. A common misconception is that some or many religious leaders in the world have made similar claims, but that is simply not the case.

Buddha did not claim to be God; Moses never said he was Yahweh; Mohammed did not identify with Allah and nowhere will you find Zoroaster claiming to be Ahuramnazda. But Jesus, the carpenter from Nazareth, said that whoever saw him (Jesus) saw the Father.

Jesus said to him: I have been with you so long and you have not yet recognized me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the father. How can you say: Show us the Father?
(John 14.9)

Christ's claims are numerous and varied. He said that he existed before Abraham

So they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, right through them, and thus escaped.
(John 8:59)

and that he is like the Father

17. But Jesus answered them, My Father is working until now, and I also am working.
18. That is why the Jews tried even more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God.
(John 5: 17-18)

Jesus claimed that he could forgive sins

5. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven you.
6. Some of the scribes sat there, who thought in their hearts:
7. What is this blasphemy talking about? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
(Mark 25-7)

what only God can do according to the teaching of the Bible

I, I will erase your transgressions for my sake, and I will never remember your sins again!
(Isaiah 43:25)

The New Testament equates Jesus with the Creator of the universe

Everything came into being through the same thing; and without it, nothing has arisen that has arisen.
(John 1,3)

and with the one who receives everything

and he is above all, and everything has its existence in him.
(Colossians 1:17)

The apostle Paul says that God was revealed in the flesh

And the mystery of the fear of God is recognized as great: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by the angels, proclaimed among the Gentiles, believed in the world, received into glory.
(1 Timothy 3:16)

and the evangelist John says: "The Word was God"

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(John 1,1)

The shared testimony of Jesus and the New Testament writer is that he was more than human; he was god.

Not only did his friends realize that he claimed to be God, but so did his enemies. There may be doubts today among skeptics who refuse to examine the evidence, but there was no doubt on the part of the Jewish authorities.

When Jesus asked why they wanted to stone him, they replied: “We do not stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy; because you are only human and make yourself God "

The Jews answered him and said, We do not want to stone you because of a good work, but because of blasphemy, namely because you, who are human, make yourself God!
(John 10:33)

This fact distinguishes Jesus from other religious figures. In the great religions of the world, the teaching - not the teacher - is the most important thing.

Confucianism is a collection of doctrines; Confucius is not important. Islam is a revelation from Allah with Muhammad as a prophet, and Buddhism emphasizes the principles of the Buddha and not the Buddha himself. But it is especially true of Hinduism, which has no historical founder.

The center of Christianity, however, is the person of Jesus Christ. Not only did Jesus claim to teach people the truth, he claimed he was the truth

Jesus said to him: I am the way and the truth and the life; nobody comes to the father but only through me!
(John 14.6)

The most important aspect of Christianity is not what Jesus taught, but who Jesus was. Was he the son of god? Is it the only way for a person to come to God? That's what he said of himself.

Imagine if the President of the United States appeared on every screen tonight and proclaimed, “I am God Almighty. I have the power to forgive sins. I have authority to rise from the dead. «

He would be quickly and unobtrusively faded out, led away and replaced by the Vice President. Anyone who dares to make such a claim would either be mad or a liar unless they were God.

It was the same with Jesus. He clearly claimed all of this and more for himself. If he is God as he says we have to believe him, and if he is not then we should have nothing to do with him. Jesus is either Lord of all or no Lord at all.

Yes, Jesus claimed to be God. Why should anyone believe that? After all, just saying something doesn't make it come true. Where is the evidence that Jesus is God?

The Bible offers various reasons, including the miracles and fulfilled prophecies, to convince us that Jesus is who he claims to be

30. Jesus did many other signs before his disciples, which are not written in this book.
31. But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
(John 20: 30-31)

The primary reason or sign that Jesus said himself would show that he was the Son of God was his resurrection from the dead.

When the religious leaders asked him for a sign, Jesus replied: "For just as Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will also be in the interior of the earth for three days and three nights."

For just as Jonah was in the belly of the giant fish for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the bosom of the earth for three days and three nights.
(Matthew 12.40)

Elsewhere, when asked for a sign, he said:"Tear down this temple, in three days I will raise it up again ... but it meant the temple of his body"

19. Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20. Then said the Jews, In forty-six years was this temple built, and will you raise it in three days?
21. But he spoke of the temple of his body.
(John 2: 19-21)

The power to rise from the dead was the mark that set him apart not only from all other religious leaders, but from everyone who has ever lived.

Anyone who wants to refute Christianity must explain away the story of the resurrection. Hence, according to the Bible, Jesus proves by his return from the dead that he is the Son of God

and has been proven as the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness through the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,
(Romans 1,4)

There is overwhelming evidence that Jesus rose from the grave, and it is this fact that proves that Jesus is God.
