Here's What Every Myers-Briggs Personality Type Before Bed
What do you do before you go to bed? Whether you want to relax with a glass of wine and your favorite Netflix series or a cup of coffee and your laptop, your sleeping habits can reveal a lot about who you are as a person. In a survey of more than 1,000 people, Mattress Advisor set out to see how our personality types affect our sleeping habits. Here are some of what they uncovered:
istj: the logician
Have a cocktail: This cerebral, grounded personality type looks at life - and probably bedtime - through the most logical lens. For the ISTJ, it's about getting from point A (awake) to point B (sleepy). To cool off before bed, this personality becomes likely with a classic cocktail correct get to the point. Could we suggest something delicious and classic in equal parts, like a sazerac?
ISFJ: The Defender
Binge Netflix: Just because that personality is practical and down to earth doesn't mean they're not nostalgic and sensitive - which is why Netflix (or Hulu!) Is the perfect way for the ISFJ to fade out after a long day. Don't be surprised if your ISFJ buddy comes up with a cozy blanket, a tissue box, and the latest episode of This Is Us. Lies on the couch.
INFJ: The lawyer
Read: Since the creative, deep, and emotional INFJ seeks depth in every aspect of their life, it should come as no surprise that this personality type also seeks to make bedtime meaningful. Finds her curled up with a stimulating, emotionally charged read before bed, like Rising Strong by Brené Brown or poems by Rupi Kaur.
INTJ: The architect
Surf the Internet: INTJs are all about gaining knowledge, especially if that knowledge helps them make life more efficient. Since this personality type finds learning equally stimulating and relaxing, you will likely find them surfing the internet before bed, looking for random topics in Reddit threads, or looking for the latest version of the iPhone.
ISTP: The Virtuoso
Preparation for the next day: Natural problem solver with a thing to tinker with, ISTPs love to take things apart only to put them back together. As bedtime approaches, you might find this personality tying loose ends to prepare for the next day or to work on projects that need finishing.
ISFP: The Adventurer
Meditate: For the ISFP, it's all about life. Explore and experience the beauty of the world around you. When you think about how beautiful life is, it can be hard to sleep! Whether they're doing deep breathing mindfulness exercises before bed or reaching for a sleep aid, this personality is likely to need a little more help at night.
INFP: The mediator
Listen to music: Sensitive and poetic to the core, the INFP is not afraid to use its emotions and be creative, even at the end of the day. If you listen to nostalgic music with inspiring lyrics or join a soulful podcast like On being immerse yourself, you would be in INFP's alley when the bed is rolling.
INTP: The logician
Listen to a podcast: INTP friends are also podcasts. Although the "N" in this personality means they are interested in the theoretical, they are thinkers too, so the facts reassure them. An NPR podcast focused on business, science, or technology would be the perfect way for this highly analytical personality to relax and learn something new at the same time.
ESTP: The entrepreneur
Spoil: The ESTP have a thing (or should we say fancy?) For the finer things in life, but they also want everything they do to be purposeful. For optimal relaxation before bed, this personality will likely engage in activities that release feel-good hormones. We leave the rest to your imagination.
ESFP: the entertainer
Take a bath: Her friends might call her extra, but she's just having fun. After a long day of exploring the city and socializing with friends, the ESFP will likely want to use their senses to relax in the bathroom. There can be bath bombs and face masks, and there will likely be Snapchat.
ENFP: The fighter
Bedtime delay: Why is this personality type the least likely ready to make for bed? Probably because the lively and playful ENFP is way too busy to indulge with friends or delve deep into emotional territory over coffee. Who needs a bedtime routine when you have your own excitement about life to tire you out?
ENTP: The debater
Have a multi-step skin care routine: The ENTP is obsessed with inventive, world changing ideas and that means they are likely to innovate with their bedtimes too. These people are both trending and whip-wise, probably the most likely personality type to have a sophisticated (and scientifically sound) skin care routine.
ESTJ: The executive
Job: For the ESTJ, "sleep" is something that helps them gather energy for work the next day. The ever-ambitious ESTJ wants to get ahead, and bedtime is no exception. In fact, if you haven't checked everything off the list, you probably can't rest. If they have a few hours before bed, that personality - you guessed it - is going to work.
ESFJ: The consul
Drink coffee: ESFJs are known to be down to earth and light-hearted - so light-hearted, in fact, that they are the most likely personality to have coffee before bed. Whether it's relaxing on a hot drink or the ever-harmonious ESFJ defies the laws of caffeine, you can find it in your hand while chatting with loved ones before bed.
ENFJ: The protagonist
Follow a routine: Unlike her ENFP cousin, the ENFJ was most likely to follow a bedtime routine (and they likely own adorable pajama sets). This is likely because they are natural leaders with a keen sense of overall responsibility, from caring for loved ones to preparing for bed.
ENTJ: The commander
Watch the news: The very ambitious ENT can be a bit intense, but that's a good thing. They know what they want and they do it, and they value anything in life that helps them get there. This personality is most likely to watch TV before bed, and because of their love of the practical, they are likely to be tuned to the news.
