What is an Elsevier magazine

Access to the journals of the Elsevier publishing house

The State and University Library Bremen (SuUB) has, like about 200 other German universities, colleges and research institutions within the framework of the nationwide DEAL negotiations At the end of 2017 the contract with the publisher Elsevier ("Science Direct") no longer extended. This decision was made in agreement with the management of the Bremen universities.

Current situation with magazines from the Elsevier publishing house:

- Members of Bremen's state universities can continue to do so on-line on the by the end of 2017 access published articles from the journals permanently licensed by the SuUB.

- To all since 2018 published article no access more. Also all articles from the approx. 1,500 magazine titles of the so-called "Freedom Collection" licensed by the SuUB can no longer be accessed, as this license did not contain any archive rights.

What's next?

In order to continue to supply you with articles, we have set up a free service for you to order copies of articles from Elsevier journals.
This service is available all members of Bremen's state universities available that have a valid library card feature.

We will inform you by e-mail as soon as the paper copy is ready to be picked up from our circulation desk or at one of our university locations. The procurement takes about 7 days. Electronic provision is unfortunately not possible for legal reasons.

We hope that the DEAL negotiations with the Elsevier publishing house will still be successfully concluded so that we can make the online offer available again as usual.
